People Hi all, I'm Pamela Cohen, Associate Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Department Co-Chair, Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH.  I earned my B.S. in Secondary Mathematics from Boston University in 1969 followed by my M.A. as an Elementary School Mathematics Specialist from Columbia University's Teacher College in 1970.

I began my teaching career as a high school math teacher in New Rochelle, NY and Manchester, NH.  In 1984 I moved to New Hampshire College as the Learning Center's Math Coordinator.  In 2003, when New Hamshire College became Southern New Hampshire University I transitioned to the Mathematics Department full-time.  I teach our developmental Fundamentals of Algebra, Finite Mathematics, Statistics and Mathematics for Elementary Education I & II in our day program and teach Fundamentals of Algebra on-line.

I am fascinated by using technology for math instruction and continuously seek new elements to add to my classes.  I use a tablet PC (Windows Journal is my program of choice for notes) for both my day and on-line classes - this has been a tremendous asset to both the students and myself.  We use MyMathLab for homework assignments in both our day and on-line programs.  Recently, I've been exploring uses for my Ipad in the classroom - so far I think there is potential, but this technology just isn't there yet.  If any of you have ideas for me I would greatly appreciate them.

I have attended a few GeoGebra presentations at ICTCM (a wonderful conference to learn about new technologies for math instruction), but haven't had time to play with this program.  I hope to create explorations to use in my Mathematics for Elementary Education geometry unit.  Most of the pre-service teachers in this class are very weak Geometry students.  The ability to actually visualize and manipulate geometric figures will aid in their understanding.
